Questions about pocket PCS...?
-
I am interested in the Palm Z22, I haven't really shopped around though, but from what I can tell it is a very nice one. Here are my questions, pertaining to palms/pocket PCs in general, not just this one: 1. can they turn off or are they on at all times? (probably a dumb question...) 2. Do all/most come with some sort of internet browser nowadays, or only more expensive ones? 3. would you say its difficult to learn how to write in the way you have to on palms (with the pen thing)? 4. Is there a difference between a palm pilot, pocket PC, and PDA? if so what? 5. Do you think its worth spending $100 on a palm for a 16-year-old girl? I'm always trying to jot things down, make lists and then forgetting things but I don't know if it is worth spending that much... thanks for any help you can give!

Answer:
to answer your questions. i only have a pocket pc so i can answer the palm stuff. 1. they have a power button. but it puts the pocket pc into a suspend type of mode, depending on what type of applications you have loaded on the pda it will automatically wake to do a job that is scheduled like turn on an alarm or do a back up. 2. all Pocket PCs come with an internet browser that I'm aware of 3. they come with a text recognizer software that does a pretty good job of understanding normal print, cursive, or a combination of the two. 4. they are both PDAs the difference is the operating systems on them. Palms have Palm OS and Pocket PCs have Windows Mobile operating systems. Pocket PCs are more compatible with Outlook from what i heard. 5. Palms i heard have very stable operating systems but that's about all i can comment on them. I think any person of any age can benefit from a PDA. I use my Hp IPAQ for school, keeping track of finances, an alarm clock, organizer, mp3 player, to watch movies, and the list goes on and on. it keeps me very organized as well as entertained and i think its worth it.

PDA's are usually office tools for keeping personal schedules, finance, electronic mail. Including very personal information from passwords to check book account numbers; better on your person than the office desk. Even if the office computer(s) has super security. If the person is under 16? Use your parental or best judgement, PDA's are equivalent to a receptionist job computerized. School teachers do not like students having them in grade school for basic math. The under 18 can always write the homework down, even class schedule. I suggest a cheap Nintendo instead or handheld dictorary, translator.
