How to download a file in javascript?

How do I watch videos/download flash player?

• I can't seem to watch videos at the moment on any site that requires flash. When I go to youtube it comes up with the message 'Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.' When I click to install it, it comes up with a box telling me this: 'install_flash_player.exe which is a: Binary File from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com Would you like to save this file?' Then gives the option to 'save' or 'cancel' Is that the correct box I should see? Anyway when I click to save, it downloads but the problem is still there again. I have Windows Vista and I use Firefox as my browser. I have checked under tools on javascript and it is enabled already. I've tried restarting which doesn't work either. I've encountered this problem before on my desktop (I use a laptop now), and the only way I managed to fix it was by saving a page with a link to a download that someone suggested to favourites, so that everytime the problem reoccurred I would click on it and it would work instantly. This time round I have searched around for answers but with any download anyone suggests, my computer doesn't seem to recognise it the same as with flash player. So does anyone have a definitive answer to this problem? I have a feeling it might be a spyware program or something preventing an important download but I'm not sure?
