Question on Blackberry Curve?

Blackberry question: Verizon 8830 or Cingular 8300 (Curve)?

  • I'm currently a verizon customer and am in the market to get my first blackberry. I was initially excited about the Verizon BB 8830 World Phone, but now I'm thinking that the keyboard layout may not be ideal for my big fingers. The GPS on the 8830 is really cool though. I will be using the bb for business purposes, but I am not a world traveler. I think the curve that is coming out for cingular may prompt me to switch carriers. I do not want to leave Verizon, but there BB selection does not compare to Cingulars. So what should I do? Stay with Verizon and go for the 8830 or switch to Cingular for the new Curve?

  • Answer:

There is some sort of highly overrated piece of info going about that says that large fingered folks can't use the 8800 models. First - the Curve is the same keyboard essentially. The 87xx models were just about the same too. It feels like they're closer because the buttons are not so pronounced. Next - I am a big guy w/ big hands and I use the 8800 from Cingular. Very nice device. I have used every Cingular and Verizon model going back to the 957's and this is my favorite device. My advice is pick up that 8830 asap. I've seen it and have played with it and I would go to it in a heart beat if the verizon service was stronger here.
