What is a good wireless router for my Dsl?

How do I know what land line phone I need to buy to connect (wireless) to my DSL router (PK5000)?

  • I only have one phone jack in my house (in the basement) and don't want to pay to have additional jacks installed. My service provider said my wireless router had the capability to connect wirelessly to a phone anywhere in my house. The problem is I don't know what (land line) phones are compatible with my router. Is there some standard I should look for on the phone itself? The router is model PK5000.

If you truly have only one phone jack in the basement, you'd better look around, learn to run wires, or pay someone to do it for you, Where is the dial tone coming from? If it's coming from the DSL line, you can buy a $20 cordless phone and plug the base into the DSL filter, not very convenient unless you get a base unit and an additional remote. If you don't have phone service, you can use a VoIP service, like Magic Jack, but it requires a computer and the computer has to be on all the time. You can get VoIP service from an Analog Terminal Adapter (Vonage, Phone Power, 8x8, etc.) but that requires a wired ethernet connection and service from someone to supply dial tone. Last, and get a good grip on you seat, you could get a WiFi cordless phone. Something like the ZyXel 2000 runs about $160. How does that compare to your $20 cordless and $20 worth of materials?

i do not know what your phone company was talking about by your router being able to sent your PHONE signal wirelessly thru your house.. the router is just a router.. it will sent your WiFi signal but is not going to send your phone signal.. you could get a wireless phone jack http://www.google.com/#q=wireless+phone+jack+&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=252c9ddb3f4a506f&hl=en&safe=off i would really prefer to run a wire to wherever you need the phone to be at.. you would then install a 2 way splitter, connect a filter to the input of the transmitter in the basement, and the DSL modem directly into the other input of the splitter... then connect your phone to the receiver anywhere that you place it in your home.. another option would be to get an expandable handset cordless phone system, where you keep the main base connected to the phone jack in the basement with a splitter and DSL filter, and the expandable handset and charger connected elsewhere in your home..
