Do I need an Active phone line for Comcast Internet?

Possible to have at&t for phone and comcast for internet?

  • We want faster internet but we need our phone line for the alarm system..is it possible to have both comcast internet and att phone? if we combine them it would be cheaper then both comcast phone and internet...and att internet is slow, and we are getting ripped off for such crappy internet.

    yes, ATT is a landline company, and comcast is a cable company... there would be no interference between the two... you should be able to run your alarm system with a comcast digital voice phone line also... as long as it was wired properly... (and it would be a good idea to have back up power to your modem/phone adapter if you did this)

If at/t has dsl, all they have to do to leave the burglar alarm working is to put a splitter on it. I just had the slowest dsl installed, (768 mps) for $15 a month and it's faster than the wireless card I was paying $60 a month for. Plus if I need to go faster, I can always increase the speed. Plus the cost will go up also. To answer your question, you can have any company you want to. Shop around for the best service and price.
