Can I cancel my landline but have the company redirect my calls to my cell phone number?

• I want to cut my landline phone service at home and have each family member fend for his/her own with their cell phones. But I'd like to have the landline company alert callers to my new number so that I don't miss any important calls in the short term. Is this a service landline phone companies offer? Just trying to arm myself before I call to cancel. Thanks

  Through the magic of regulation, you could port your land line number to your cell phone. Or, you might be able to have the telco put changed number intercept to refer the disconnect to your cell. That would probably only last for 6 months or until the new directory comes out. I had a customer port his telco number to his cell and I think, for the most part, he wishes he didn't. Probably because he lost the ability to keep the automatic Do Not Call a cellphone rules from applying to his Landline that rings on his cell. Carl
