How to split the phone call?

How do you split a phone line? (Read Description!!)?

• I want to know ow to split a phone line because we have two lines, one in my kitchen and on in the living room. The house phone in the living room and the internet (broadband) in the kitchen. When someone makes a call in the living room, it interrupts the internet. How do I stop that?

  Hi Zack:I assume by your question that you have 2 dial tone lines. I also assume that the 2 lines are in the same 4 wire cable.If the cable between the D-mark & the 2 phone locations are in the old red,green,yellow,black wires, the wires in this cable are only spiraled,NOT twisted pairs like CAT3 & better CAT5.The older cable has interference problems.My advice is to run a new CAT5 from the D-mark to your kitchen for the computer.Use blue/white pair.
