Broadband/Telephone Provider Without BT Line?
-
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone out there in the UK knows of a way so that I can get my telephone line and broadband without having a BT line. I currently have a BT landline and broadband service through BT, but over these past few months, they have mucked me about, ie disconnecting my broadband for no reason, wrong bill amounts getting sent in. So I am looking to change, but where I am located, Aberdeen, Scotland, I do not get services like Virgin, Tiscali etc, who offer the complete service, ie landline, broadband, tv etc. Is there any other companies out there who offer this service no matter where you are located. I remember someone telling me some companies offer Satellite broadband? If anyone knows of any companies out there, I would like to know.... Thanks

Answer:
Try Talktalk. I've found them very good, provided you're competent with computers. As others say, Virgin Media is about the only company that doesn't use the BT local loop but companies like Talktalk do have their own equipment in the exchange and have their own arrangements for the carriage of calls.

I dont think its possible unless you use a cable network provider such as Virgin Media, the only other option is to use one of the many mobile phone networks that offer both mobile and wireless internet access, such as 3 or orange, etc.

My pal is in Peterhead and she has Tiscali for everything including line rental. Try Sky for the whole lot. Were in Dyce and with BT but not 100% happy with them either. Our contract is up in a couple of months so were looking at possible Sky since we have Sky+, but will keep looking. Forget about talktalk they are a waste of time.

There are cable operators such as virgin which can offer the service but you will need to be in a cable zone so check on the virgin site. If not then you will be stuck with ADSL which means bt line rental.

What about the mobile companies such as Orange, Virgin etc. They supply you with a dongle and that is all you need apparently. Worth enquiring about anyway.

I'm with Talk Talk and was with BT before. They take over your phone line when you join them and I have a broadband and phone package which works out a hell of a lot cheaper then if I was still with BT
