How can I find a telephone service provider by telephone number?

I have an elderly relative who's telephone line appears to be cut off, I can't find any details in his house that would help me to get him re-connected, I have contacted BT and all they can tell me is that he is not with them! - can anyone help

His or her number should be a guide line. Im surprised bt didnt help. give ntl or virgin a ring. if not search for providers on the net . good luck

If u know the numer,middle 3 Nos represents the service provider's code.I f it is very old than u have to check up with all service providers about the No. But what retains u 2 have a new connection?
