Why does my internet cut out when the phone rings?

  • I use a broadband internet provider, and I think my router isn't wireless, it is meant to be but it has wires leading somewhere.... Whenever the phone rings the 'i' icon next to the tick disappears, the internet disconnects, then the 'i' flashes orange and finally reconnects. I am desperate to sort this out by Sunday but I know nothing about computers, I have looked at other posts like this and people have given really technical explanations on how to solve the problem. Can anyone tell me how to solve this in a user friendly way, taking into account my complete lack of computer knowledge? If their is something like the name for a wire then by all means tell me. Hope someone can help me, I'm desperate.

  • Answer:

most wireless routers also double as a 4 port wired router.... so just because it has wires connected to it does not mean that it is not wireless.... all of my PCs are hardwired to my router and the hub connected to the router, but my router is wifi, so that i can use my palm and laptop if needed with wifi... here is my troubleshooting tips for helping you resolve your problem http://profiles.yahoo.com/blog/IHQE3C5KDDAYA3AI3BXXCR5UFE?eid=izJbo6k3zCmfL1cnQR8kWcXVskxqDNfLzW4YaqqanjU861Xh_A
