How many different ways is there to tap a landline phone,someone had access to my phone when I was out.?

Could they tap a code in,to eavesdrop on my calls on another phone.

it is quite easy for someone to gain access to your telephone line from outside of your home... they just need to connect to your line at the NID on the side of your house, or at the terminal on the pole, or at the pedastal on the corner... there is no way for them to dial a code to gain access to your line (unless you have a phone system with multiple lines, that is set up this way)

No..It's not that easy, and don't be paranoid, it takes a lot to get legal action for wiretaps, unless it is a Gov't agency, with good reason, and they can listen in to any of our conversations. Even Police have to get a court order for wiretaps, and that is even rare.. For a private party to try that, would be illegal, and they would face a felony.. (In US)

If cordless,someone could register your base to their handset therefore gaining access to your line(if your phone has that facility and they're in range).
