How to stop telemarketers' calls with concealed caller ID's?

Any way to block phone calls and/or file a complaint?

  • Ok, so here's the problem. Every other day or so I keep getting calls from this place called "Reader's Source" it's always the same number too (via caller ID). They always ask for a Joe (who does not live here) and I have told them countless times there's no Joe and to stop calling. The last couple of calls I have actually gotten hung up on. I even tried to get the phone number to call back (since the number on the caller ID does not work for call back) and the guy on the other end rudely said "I'll get right on that" and hung up. I'm pretty sure this is a call center because there's different people everytime. My question is, how would I block this phone number? I'm also on the "Do not call list" for telemarketers. Also, I would like to file a complaint with this company if possible, do I go to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) or is there another way to file a complaint?

  • Answer:

ask for a supervisor the next time that they call.. advise them that they have the wrong number the person they are trying to reach is not at your phone number, and you are on the do not call registry, and that you will be filing a complaint with the FTC, then go to the FTC website and file a complaint.. http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/cmplanding.shtm

Call your cell phone company, or go to their website. You can block phone calls either way.

Tell them to CEASE and DESIST or you will file a formal suit in small claims court. These idiots are relentless and sometimes do not understand the word NO. But you have rights and can make that VERY clear to them. Or ask the caller if you could have their home phone number and call them back at a time when it is convenient for YOU. Like perhaps their dinner time. I bet they would not like that very much.

Call your phone service supplier. They can set you up to Log and trace a specific incoming call.. These call records could then become legal evidence if it goes to court.
