Is working at a call center hard??

  • I will be starting work at a call center soon, and was wondering how hard it is. I know people will not always be nice, and that is not what I am worried about.......but I mean are the programs they use easy to get used to?????

    I've worked in a call center for three years. It is nothing worry about. Most people will be nice, even the upset people. You will get a few call where they start out screaming and demand a supervisor. As far as the programs, they are easy to use, but they are slow, so have patience. Remember, they are on the other end of the line and cannot hurt you. If someone get too out of hand, you can offer to get your supervisor. It make them feel like your trying to help.

You talk on the phone all day, how could it be hard? Unless you are talking about a phone sex line, then things might get hard.

My mum works in one, LOL. Personally, I think it'd be a doddle, my mum also works with numbers so she says it's more stressful working out things in her head on the spot, I doubt you should be worried about who you're talking to, it's not like they're ever gonna meet you, right?

That depends upon the call center. I worked at an internet service provider and they had the latest applications that were easy to use, as you would expect. I also worked at a call center that handled insurance claims from more than 100 different insurance companies; and some of the companies wanted us using their applications which were often old DOS applications or applications designed to run on Windows 3.x and they could be a pain in where you don't want pain. Almost any call center will offer training on their software, so I wouldn't worry too much about the applications. It's the phone call that will get you.
