How do I block numbers from calling my home phone? I have verizon for phone and I have vtech cordless phones?

My friend told me there is an option on the phone to block the numbers from calling. But I want to block the number with out getting a fee.

My Panasonic phone allows me to block up to 30 numbers. I still get 1 ring before caller-id detects the number, but I can live with that.
