Is the product "Magic Jack" legitimate?

Does anyone have a magic jack? How does it work?Do you like it or not, why?Any info on this product is welcome?

Well, wife and I bought one about six months ago, and it works GREAT from our phone here in the states. Wife's family is in the Philippines, and this magicjack will make calling them like calling someone down-the-street allegedly. A friend of the wife's bought one for herself and she got rid of it due to people whom she called complaining about poor reception on their end of the phone. She used it here in the States. Ours has yet to be sent to the Philippines. Its cost is pretty cheap. So, you can try one on your own. Are you THAT concerned about its performance that you can't risk $40 to pay for it?

You plug one end of the jack to your PC and the other end to your phone. It's nothing but a modem (converts analog signals to digital). Then you have to pay a subscription to use their service via the internet. Your other option is to use Skype. You have to buy a VOIP phone compatible with Skype. Basically, the phone is the modem.

I have one. I love it. I have never had a problem with it. The apparatus itself is small, looks like a tic tac box with a USB plug on one end and a phone jack at the other. Once you sign up and receive your majicjack, follow the instructions to download and register (very easy) and viola! Phone! You simply plug the magicjack into the USB port on your computer and if you have speakers and mic ..just dial and talk or you can plug a telephone into it and use that as well. I primarily use mine with my laptop so that I can talk and work at the same time.
