Local calls are free with a land line phone. How much cheaper do you want it.

Depending on your home phone plan, your local calls will probably be cheaper on your landline. Contact the phone company and ask them how much your rates. Skype is typically cheaper if you get one of their plans ($60/year for service + a phone number). You will not have 911 support on Skype, nor will you be able to call any other N11 service. If you are looking to reduce your phone charges, consider looking into a SIP provider. If you have Google Voice or willing to get Google Voice, Teltub will give you service for the same price as Skype, but you will be able to use an ATA which can connect to most POTS phones, or SIP phones. Calls in US/CA are free, and international rates are reasonable. Calls are carried through Google Voice.
