How to block "unknown callers"?

  • I'm constantly getting "unknown callers" popping up on my caller ID. I don't know who these callers are, because there is no number and when I do answer, nobody responds! I'm on the Do Not Call list, so they shouldn't be telemarketers. I called Comcast (my phone provider) about it, and all they could tell me is to use the call screening feature (*77) on my phone, but that only blocks callers that have numbers, and only screens anonymous callers. Doesn't work for unknowns! Does anybody else have this problem?? I want it to stop, because it's getting ridiculous having them calling me at all hours, between 8 am and 9 pm everyday, even at 8:00 in the morning on Sundays when I'm trying to sleep in!!! GRRR! Help!!

    Turn the ringer off and let the answering machine pick everything up. Then if you want to talk you can just pick up the phone. But there are phone options for this problem for your phone to not take blocked numbers. There is also something that is sold for this but I don't remember what it is. Check at Best Buy or Circuit City.

Your phone provider should be able to provide this service for you. They should be able to block all calls to your number that have their numbers hidden. If not, perhaps you need a better phone service.
