How to Wire a telephone jack?

Phone jack (weird inside, different from others) tried to wire?

  • Okay, the second floor telephone line is not working while the first floor is working. The jack in question is different from other jacks. The other jacks have four screws where you wrap around the green and red wires. This jack has four sets of "3 teeths". Okay, imagine this jack as the center and two white cables attached to it by the left and the right. The two white cables have the standard red/green wire. How do I connect? Or link the site that explains this jack in question.

  • Answer:

sounds like the jack that you have is a keystone jack, or jack that requires a special punch down tool to connect the wires... this shows you how to wire a keystone jack http://cableorganizer.com/learning-center/how-to/how-to-wire-keystone-jack.htm the link is showing how to wire CAT5 jacks... you have green/red wiring... green=blue/white red=solid blue

Not sure what you are asking. It would be easiest for you to go to a hardware store and buy a new jack they are not very expensive. My guess is that the jack you are talking about requires a punch down tool which you will not have. Red and green are the proper wires to use. The jack in question sounds like sort of a junction box.
