How To Repair Phone?

How to escalate phone repair problem with verizon?

  • we are having our phone service moved from AT&T to Verizon. Verizon says they can't hook our phone up because AT&T has not 'released' the number. AT&T says it was released a week ago. Meanwhile we have no phone service. Any ideas how to resolve or escalate. We ask for supervisors, but get put on hold for hours. Need a fast way to resolve! thanks.

You need to discuss with ATT and advise them that VZ said the line hasnt been released and you need them to confirm that the line has been released... they will not do so unless you are payed up on your bill... it would be best to have a fax available and make them fax you some type of proof. once they have confirmed and given proof you can then call back VZ and tell them about the proof you have, if it is not in there system ask to fax them the proof that you have.. if this does not work, then advise both parties that you are going to contact your local public service commision to file a complaint.. I dont know where you live, but in NYC just dialing 311 will get you connected to the city who will foward you to the PSC. if you do not know how to go about getting in touch with your local PSC check any payphone in your area.. on the sticker on the payphone towards the bottom it states that complaints can be made to the public service comission, and there phone number and usuallay address also... I dont know how ATT handles PSC matters, but VZ takes them serious.. they get fined if they are found at fault, and once a customer goes PSC they do what they can to make sure a resoloution is resolved...

Purple, I had the exact same problem when I left AT&T for MCI. There was truly nothing that MCI could do until AT&T released my telephone number, which was whenever they freakin wanted to. It's worse if you had AT&T DSL, because the DSL codes have to be removed. Again, this happens whenever AT&T feels like doing it. Call AT&T and ask to speak to someone in the President's Office. Be persistent. This will get you to an "executive" call center, and they are a little more professional at handling matters. If you have someone in your household who has medical problems, that's even better for this situation. It took 3 weeks for AT&T to release my line. I lowered my service to dial tone only, so I could get incoming calls, until everything was switched over.
