What is the "main line" in Pennsylvania?

Does anyone know where I can get better land line phone service in Pennsylvania?

  • I feel like I'm being duped by my land line phone carrier! The company charges $19.99 per month-this is just for use of the phone-no caller ID-no voice mail service, no call waiting-just making and receiving calls. They charge $19.99 a month for local and long distance calls. However, after taxes fees, and 2 calls to Maryland, , (last time I checked, Maryland was in the U.S!) the bill is always a little over 30 dollars! And I don't even talk on it! It's for my fax machine, and my security system.. PLEASE HELP ME get a new Pennsylvania land line telephone carrier?!!!?

    You can go with VOIP service if you have high speed broadband service. Tons of features including LD and some have international cheap. I get unlimited to US and Canada 60 minutes I'ntl and a ton of options. for 15.00 = 3.00 tax = 18.00 total. It is good reliable service as long as you have good stable internet

$30 bill for $20/mo phone service sounds about right.. perhaps even light on the taxes and fees (usually you end up double what the monthly fee is with taxes and fees) you can look to see if there is a lower plan that you could get since you will probably need a land line for the security system and fax machine (VoIP does not play nice with fax or alarm systems) or you can contact your alarm company to see if they can monitor your system wirelessly, or via the internet.. and use an Efax service for your faxes...

We pay $30 some for local dial tone service, taxes and fees included, so I wouldn't sweat it. Local, for your phone company, is very specific. One usually knows what is Long Distance, or the phone book describe your local calling areas. We pay $15 or so, plus taxes, for 500 minutes LD as well though, and never go over that.
