Why is the call from the US to Germany on landline so bad?

Can I use some sort of Switchboard remotely to call out from a landline? Explained further---->?

  • I have a landline in Australia with an unlimited call cap to ring Australian landlines and Mobiles. I am overseas. I have a skype call cap to call unlimited Australian landlines. IS IT POSSIBLE TO: Use skype to call my Australian landline & set up some sort of System on the Australian land line so that I can stay connected to it while using it like a PABX or similar to call out to Australian mobiles (under the landline cap) then press a button to get a new line so I dont need to disconnect from the skype call? Can I continue to do this all day? Thank you!!! Call rated to Aussie mobiles too expensive from overseas to run a business!!

  • Answer:

this device http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=466 does what you need with the early firmware (i think it was the 1.0 firmware) i think the device is discontinued... when they updated the firmware they removed this functionality, however it has been about 2 years since i used mine, so i have not checked if any future firmware upgrades restored this functionality... this box connects via USB to a PC running skype, and to a landline phone... so set up a dummy skype account (that does not need to have any paid features) then make a skype call into this dummy skype account and you will be able to access the dial tone that this box is connected to and place calls from that line...
