How to not get charged for texts and calls in CANADA with a tmobile phone?

Hi! tomorrow I'm flying to Canada and I'm bringing my Tmobile "MyTouch 3g" phone with me because I'm driving back to the USA and I need my phone of course. But I heard if someone calls you or texts you in Canada, you get charged ALOT, even when your phone is turned off! is there a way to stop incoming calls and text messages? If i remove the SD card and the battery will that help? UGH, someone please help me thanks!

i would call tmobile, and explain the situation to them... they can provide you with the best solution... perhaps you can prevent roaming text messages, or they can provide you with some type of plan so that you can continue to use your phone with out getting bill shock when you return from your trip...
