How do you figure out someone's phone number if it says private on the caller id?

someone calle dme and i wanna figure out who it is. although it didn't leave an actuall number. is there any other way i can figure out who it is. i'd rather not call them

no, not on a landline,unless you have a gizmo...that tells you who it is!!!, but if you use a Broadband-phone that goes thru the computer, you have an online daily call-log...you might get the number...if they don't use caller ID spoofing!!

if u hit *67 to block a number i beleive u can dial *69 to find out the person who's number didn't come up. or it's vice versa. i'm not 100% sure but that's what i've been told

There's no way you can extract the number. Some phone model has the option of not sending the phone number to keep the owner private. When that particular caller makes a call try to answer to register the phone call and duration. If you have a post paid plan then try to inquire about that particular caller information from your phone network company. They may have the complete data from their database.
