How do I manipulate a large number of moving platforms?

Moving to new house and I want to connect ADSL2+ though I have phone line but I don't know the phone number?

  • So, I want to know a way to know my phone number if possible. I have been told there was a guy who had business in that small house inside the house. The family live upstairs and me downstairs. The landlord told me there is a phone line but they are not sure if it's Telstra, Vodafone or Optus. So, I want to know the home phone number though they don't know either. They told me, the have other line but my line is separate and not related to their actual home number. If there is a switch, I believe I can connect a telephone and see if I can dial any number. Any easy method to detect if the phone line is working, active, what number and to which company belong to? Thanks.

  • Answer:

I'm not certain I have the full picture of your situation, so please advise if the following does not assist. The simplest method will be if you can locate the phone socket and can plug a phone into it to check for dial tone. If so, try dialling your mobile number and take note of the number that presents. If you have dial tone but obtain a recorded message when dialling out, hang up and try dialling a telco's sales number. The telco that provides the service may allow the call to connect to their sales section to assist in re-connecting the service. Once you have the number you will be able to contact your preferred ISP to request ADSL be connected.
