  • Honestly, what are they going to do? If somebody calls the cops on a couple of teens having fun, what legal action takes place? It's not like they arrest the person who makes the call. Now I understand that prank calling a business or something like that then it's illegal, since some people take it too far and the store freaks out, and sometime goes on lockdown. I see that that is highly uncalled for and can get you in trouble. Also, if you block the call, or make it private, can the police trace it? Since it is private, would the police take that much action just to find out who made a prank call? -Thanks-

    If you use the telephone to harrass a person (the person called may not consider it a prank) then the Telco can refuse to give you telephone service, and may by law be required to take away your service. The police do not need to trace a call, the Telco keeps records of every call made, that includes calling number, called number, time of call and duration of call. So if I report to the police that I have a sick person in the house and I need my service, but you keep calling and disturbing me and causing the sick person anxiety, is that a prank or is it something more serious. Watch a couple of television shows, they always get the records of the calls from the Telcos. If you only prank call your friends, that is a different story, unless your friend decides that it is not nice. I used to work long hours, but I was on call, and I did not like the calls after a couple of hours sleep to know if my refridgerator was running.

If we prank call anyone in my city then the police gets involved and people get sent to jail, no questions asked. So don't do it, if you do anything I would advise to fart on the phone.
