Hi Emily 1st things 1st. If a number that calls you from a non-caller ID phone line, ie from a line that's are not supported, then you will get this issue, as its not withheld, its not supported!. So if i rang you but did 1471, your service would say caller withheld number etc... but if i ring from work, which doesn't release any line details, you may get this issue. As you ex-partner, is an engineer, depending on his access and knowledge, he can do this by entering an Exchange (and remotely too) and selecting an out going trunk, which has no details too. I can do this on my system, on any on my works lines anywhere in the country depending on the access codes to allow you to do this. So im saying i could be, your EX. Best thing to do is to ask for BT privacy, its free, and you will have caller ID if you don't already, and ask for anonymous callers withheld, thus any person ringing with there caller ID turned off or withheld, they would get a polite message advising them you are restricting calls to this number. If your friend has there number withheld automatically, they will need to enter from a mobile *31#number or from a land line 1470number. they will charge for this, in a few months turn it off, and by then the call would have gone away. If this doesn't work, ring BT malicious call unit, they will begin to investigate the culprit, but they normally advise a change of number 1st. hope this helps.. a little....

If you dial 100 and ask to be put through to the malicious calls bureau they can give you some really helpful advice and the calls are confidential. Good luck

mine did the same thing when i was with BT.Also,i would do 1471 and not have any numbers on it,yet i would have a message on 1571!Strange i think but it was always the case. Maybe someone rang you by mistake, caught the phone in their pocket,or maybe they were trying to ring you but coz of the noise in the pub, they didnt realise you had anwered.Maybe,as they were in a pub the reception was bad and thats why you couldnt be connected, and if reception was bad,the person ringin you may not have heard a ring tone and thought they ad not gotten through. All thses things are possible.Dont worry bout your ex etc my phone did the same when i was with Bt,im with talk talk now tho coz its tons cheaper!

Some public pay phones do not accept incoming calls. Maybe thats why it wouldnt connect.
