How to forward incoming calls from a mobile phone to another mobile phone?

How can I run a phone and fax together but still forward phone calls to my mobile?

  • Hi. I have just started a business which I currently run from home. I am looking at buying a Brother - Fax-T106. The reason for this is because I want a Fax with both a phone and fax combined. Now the problem I have, I only have one free phone line at home which I plan on getting activated so I can plug it into my Brother fax/phone combi. The question I have, if I do this can I forward the calls to my mobile but still receive the fax messages to the machine? I am wondering whether the fax could tell the difference between the two because if not I guess I will be getting phone calls and faxes forwarded to my phone which would mean I would lose the fax messages. If however this fax doesn't do it, but you know of one that does, I would be glad to hear. Could someone help me on this please? Thanks. Regards, Steve

  • Answer:

call forwarding does not work that way.. either the calls are going to be forwarded to your cell phone, or the calls are not going to be forwarded to your cell phone... if the calls are forwarded, then fax calls will go to the cell also.. if calls are not forwarded, then your faxes will come in, and your voice calls will also come in, but only on your home phone line.. you can go with an e-fax service to eliminate the fax machine, or go with some type of follow-me type forwarding service like http://ringcentral.com or http://phonebooth.com

Hey Steve, I see you are from the UK, if I am not mistaken. I highly suggest that you NOT get a fax machine, since there is a much better solution that has proven to be cheaper, faster and more reliable. Internet faxing gives you the same features that a fax machine does... but more, much more. I suggest you check out http://www.faxfromuk.com/ they have all the information on the best internet fax services for the UK and you can even try them out free. If you are not in the UK and need some US fax service help than check out http://www.faxfromacomputer.com/ Cheers!

In the U.S., I use an electronic fax service. I give out a different number and the faxes are sent to me via email. If your telco offers distinctive ring and Call Forward No Answer, you could make an arrangement where the fax answers the distincitive ring line on the first ring and the regular calls would forward to your mobile because it wasn't answered.

Once you get your fx machine set the incoming ring cycle to at least three rings then leave your line forwarded to the other of choice, the fax will recognize the difference between an incoming data or voice call. But the answer call setting is most important. G/luck.

As some answers already stated, you call forwarding won't work that way. If you have Internet, and you are running a new business, I completely agree that an internet fax service is the way to go. It will definitely add to your productivity, efficiency and professional impression. Imagine being on the phone with one client, and another client trying to send you a fax. The fax will get a busy signal. Or you're receiving a large fax taking 15 minutes to receive, and 3-4 customers are trying to call you but the phone's busy. Many more scenarios will cause problems. You actually could save money with an internet fax service too!
