How does Magic Jack work with collect calls?

I know someone in prison who is only allowed to make collect calls. I live in a different state so the collect calls cost far more than they would if I were local. It has been suggested to me, that I can buy Magic Jack and have him collect call it. I've never used it before so I would like to hear from someone who has. Would collect calling a Magic Jack number save me from the out-of-state charges?

Sorry you are out of luck. Magic Jack does accept collect calls. I'm guessing they lack the equipment needed to process billing on collect calls.
