Can I make phone calls from my wireless laptop?

How to make your laptop/computer make phone calls?

  • A friend of mine stated he did it, but it was difficult. Can someone please tell me how to do it? What is it that I would need on my computer's? Thanks

    Nothing hard about it. Just installed gmail's version of a phone and it took no more than a couple minutes. Skype is free only when calling other Skype user. I use it myself for international calls as it allows me to call regular phones very cheaply. gmail's phone is free to any number within the US and Canada MagicJack is nice if you want to use your regular phones but is not quite free. Of course, one thing to consider is whether your computer has a built in mike and camera. Mine does and it makes the install easy. Some cheaper add-ons (mike/cam) seem to make it a bit of a pain.

gmail now allows you to make free calls... sign up for a gmail account if you want.. http://callingamerica.com offers free calling to the US/CAN http://voipbuster.com offers free calling to many international destinations... but now requires some credit in your account for free calls... close to free would be magicjack - $40 for the device and first year, $20 a year after that.. skype sucks... but many people still use it... (calls to phones cost money, and skype is more expensive than magicjack)

To make a pc to pc call free of charge you can use Yahoo messenger, Google voice call, Skype etc. First you have to download on of the above said application Then Install it on your computer then Connect it with whom you want to video call. Thanks

You can download Skype (free). I don't know if that's what your friend is talking about though.
