How do I deal with harassing phone calls?

I am getting harassing phone calls from a family member. How many calls does it take for me to be?

  • able to press charges? They are coming from a land line and a cell phone. So far I have recorded 2 calls date, time and number.

    depending on what was said... just a single call could bring charges of harassment... however, most jurisdictions prefer to have a minimum of 3 phone calls before bringing charges against someone for telephone harassment.. check with your phone company about the customer initiated trace feature *57 as this may be helpful for you to maintain a legal record of these calls.. there is usually a per use fee and the callers information is made available to law enforcement...

To me it would seem like if you have told them to back off, you don't want anything to do with them a few times and they still keep trying to contract you or if there is a bad/harmful/abusive etc past relationship then you should be able to do something about it. best of luck!
