Go to http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/ and never give out your phone number again. For a low fee of 14.95, you can do a reverse lookup and get name and address for residential lines, cell numbers, and even unlisted numbers. They claim to be a security company. And I feel so secure now.

go to www.whitepages.com and do a reverse lookup

One way though time consuming would be to physically rearch through the relevant phone directory, (they keep all copies in the local library if not your own area)Of course you'd need to know the name as well.Listed names would then be easily linked to the number and the address be displayed. There's probably a quicker way via the net but not aware of it

Generally online phone books do not allow you to look up names and addresses based on telephone numbers. This is a big issue when it comes to public databases and most phone book databases don't allow reverse lookup. However, with a little bit of simple programming or some simple hacking of the databases (you can buy them as a CD) might be able to be searched to find the your address based on the telephone information. It is really not that hard to track down someone if you really want to find them. If they have your family name, then they can find all the addresses with that name, then check the telephone numbers against yours. In addition, obviously there are a range of people who have access to reverse telephone directories (police, emergency services and so on, not to mention people in the phone companies) so it is highly likely private detectives may have access to these same directories (legally or illegallly it doesn't matter). Police databases keep records of searches and anything unusual is flagged and investigated by internal affairs.

If you have got your phone number and address on a public database then it is possible. Also, if you work for BT and have access to their CSS system then it is possible. I never give my home phone number on any forms or litterature unless it is a requirement and I really want to submit the form.

Sorry to worry you but it is possible to trace someone via the electrol role (if they know your name of course). It also depends who you get if you call directory enquires. Some operators give the address away by mistake although they sgouldn't.

In some old USA films they talk about reverse directories in which numbers are in numerical order. . I dont know if this sort of thing ever / still exists in the UK
