How can I dial Australian 1-800 numbers from Overseas (USA?

Who owns 1800 numbers?

  • I want to register a 1800 number directly with the government agency that issues them. I may even want to start my own 1800 number business one day. For now I need to know who issues them. I know that internic registers domain names but why registers toll free numbers and how can I contact them?

any telephone service provider will be able to offer you a toll free number for a monthly fee... there is no central place that you need to go to... your current telephone service provider should be able to hook you all up with a toll free number... you are not likely to get an 800 number. like 800-CALL-NOW you may be stuck with an 866 or 877 or 888 number... but if you want a vanity number, you are likely going to have to wait for after october 9th (unless it has been pushed back again, when they open up the 855 toll free area code...

Your local phone company can provide you with 1800 number. Aside from 1800 there are other toll free prefixes available- 866,877 and 888. You can see list of phone companies who provides the number here
