The prank call was it really the police?

If u prank call someone + they say i'm calling the police will they call the police or r they trying 2 scare u

    A few things you need to know: 1) You can't really prank call people safely today like you could just a decade ago. Now prank emailing or messaging...that's a different story. 2) Most of the time they are just tryinig to scare you; they won't call the police. 3) Anyway, it really doesn't matter, because unless you threatened to hurt someone, the police will not take the report seriously anyway. They've got better things to do.

Actually I called the police on someone last night who pranked us 3 times in the middle of the night, while they were obvioulsy drunk. Why did I call the police? I am recovering from surgery, have a sick 10 month old who was TRYING to sleep.,...not messing around. The police did trace it and go to their home...,and we live in a big city so apparently they don't have better things to do :-) My advice to you is to grow up and get a life....you sound like an immature loser.

are you sure they're your friend? they wouldn't call the cops on you if they were. tell them that it was just a prank call and your sorry, although it is definitely possible that they were just trying to scare you. it depends on how uptight their personality is.

Well, I'd talk to your friend and have him/her explain to their mom that you are friends and you meant no harm in crank calling. But remember, your friend's mother can rightfully call the police. It is unlawful to make annoying and harrasing phone calls (and prank calls fit under that category). Even if you had your number blocked, all it takes is a call to the phone company, and they can tell the receiving party who cranked call them.

If they want to, they can totally mess up your life. Here is what you are up against: the phone company has a record of all the numbers called and received. It takes a few seconds to find out that you called them. If they claim harassment, the phone company will be after you too. They may terminate your service or do more than that. If these people call the cops, you will get a visit from them if a report is filed. You are at their mercy now, depending on what they claim in the report, and especially if they claim you made any threats. They may decide to sue you for punitive damages. In the long term, you will survive this since it's your word against theirs (unless there are witnesses). But in the short term, and depending on the report content, the police might throw the book at you.. arrest, fingerprinting, a record, etc. so next time, know what you're getting into first.
