Do you know a good software that can record call conversation?

Is it possible to make someone stop recording the (telephone) conversation?

  • I know it's a bit odd, but if you want me to elaborate, here I go. Suppose I make a phone call to someone & the one I'm calling records our conversation informing me about it beforehand [if you need an example; take the helpline of some major corporation]. Is it possible to make them stop recording it by some way? If yes, how? Anything besides that I should stop calling them, and/or ask them directly not to do so every time I call? I mean, it's fine that you record the call, but I'd rather that you provide the option [ask for permission] as to whether or not I want my call recorded instead of merely informing me about it. One might say that it's their decency that they're at least informing me. If they wish, they can do so without even letting me know. Anyways, my question isn't about whether what they're doing is right or wrong, and ethical or otherwise. My queries are as mentioned above. Pardon the English, but I hope you get what I'm trying to convey here. Sillier as it sounds, I just can't help the curiosity. I'm willing to take my chances and putting it before you although I..... Doesn't matter.

  • Answer:

for an individual you could just request that they stop recording the call.. depending on where you live if single party consent is all that is needed they are not legally obligated to do so, but if all parties must consent then they must stop recording or end the phone call.. for a larger company, the person who answers the phone has little control over if the call is recorded or not.. depending on the company none of their calls may be recorded, just that they leave that message at the beginning of the call in the event that a supervisor wanted to monitor the call or record calls on a selective basis, such as an unruly customer.. in this case, since the operator that you are talking to has no control over if the recording of the call is switched on or off the only course of action that you have is to not communicate over the phone with those companies.. the recording of your phone calls can help protect you as well as the company doing the recording as a record of what was said and agreed upon over the phone so that disputes can be settled if they arise..

Other than their own decency of turning off the recording upon request there is nothing you can do about it. It is required by law to inform everyone on the call that it can be recorded to be legal, but it does not require that all parties agree. Just be informed. So if you don't like it there really isn't anything you can do about it.
