Why doesn't my iphone lock button work?

My iphone 3g is frozen and won't shut off..I can't push the top button dwn becuz it doesnt work anymore.help!?

  • I hope this is not a lost cause because i can NOT afford to buy another phone, new or old..The top button doesnt work anymore..its frozen and wont shut on/off...its stuck on the home screen and it has the spiral right before it goes off frozen on the screen...the only way for me to revive it would b for me to let it die THEN turn it back on but the screen has literally been on for hrs with the same spiral. ugh...smh...I HATE IPHONES!!!!! I SHOULD PROBABLY TAKE IT APART BUT I'M HOPING U GUYS CAN SPARE ME SOME QUICK FIX'S...THANKS

    Hi you have couple options. 1. Kill the battery somehow, then hold the home button and plug the iphone in. Keep holding for like 30 secs. 2. Wait for the iphone to turn off or the screen to blank and do the step 1. 3. Fix the power button. 4. Theres a tutorial on youtue to get the power button working once. Something like pushing the back and screen of the corber of the power switch har and pressing the power button.

try connecting it to iTunes and resetting it, if not take it to the nearest apple store and ask them to sort it out. Ps, resetting it wont delete anythin :) x

Woah, don't take it apart! Not a smart idea. What about plugging it into your computer and resetting it from there?

plug it in to your computer keep messin around with the home and on and off button holdign them at different times keep doign that for about ten minutes if that doesnt work let it sit charging on ur computer for an hour or 2 and come back to it and do the same thign if nothing happens restore it also u could let it die and do what i said above aswell while its plugged in. iphones and ipod are hard to brick like that its very rare people sometimes think there phone is screwed up for good meanwhile all u need to do is plug it in and mess around with a few things.
