IPhone vs Blackberry?

IPhone vs. Blackberry vs. Other phone?

  • I am looking for a new phone. Right now I have the iPhone 3gs it's great and all it just lacks so much service when the rest of the ATT phones in my house have 4-5 bars. The only think keeping me from blackberry is I will be traveling a lot back and forth becuase I am relocating to Florida and family lives in Indiana. Well I really want a southwest airlines app like the iPhone has one that will keep my itinerary on it and everything. I live this app on the iPhone. It also needs to work 100% with ATT Internet and email. I am enrolled in an online course for school and the email really helps. Pros of iPhone for me: browsers apps pros of blackberry for me: email is said to be better physical keyboard my iPhone has been have problems of crashing apps, Internet and all that. It freezes sometimes. I really like the touchscreen on the iPhone but it ticks me off I can't download ringtones from any site. For example tonzr.com it won't let me use it. Can anybody tell me if there is a way to use it on my iPhone? I will also set this up for my school email when I go to college if that is even possible. So should I stay with my iPhone or go with the blackberry or maybe even go with another phone if there are any suggestions.

here is what I dont understand... you get 1-2 bars and all other ATT phones get 4-5 bars... thats a SIM card or defective Phone issue... we can give you a free SIM card, call 611 or go to a ATT to troubleshoot it... but if its the phone, then call Apple since all other ATT phones have 4-5 bars and your iphone doesnt... thats a phone issue and only APPLE fixes its hardware. Heaven forbid we touch the Iphone.... Personally, honestly... Iphones are made by Apple.. And since Apple wont give us more rights for our iphone customers like we give phone for all of our other customers... like iphone replacements, warranty, discount upgrades, etc... Apple in my mind--sux!!! I'll never own or buy apple/mac/whatever in my life!... and I hate iphones! I'm a PC and proud of it. Until Apple starts giving their wireless carrier's more phone control and stops pointing a billion dollar contract in our face.... until then I boycott apple! next... balckberries... PLEASE dont go down the evil path and darkside... backberries suck! They break easily and have the #1 of the highest warranty and insurance replacement rates of all phones, next to motorolla... they simply suck. RIM, like motorlla, doesnt know how to make cell phones. if your looking for a smartphone and email client and maybe even Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 like a blackberry has... I prefer you to go with Samsung BlackJack 2 or Jack or Epix... Maybe a LG Incite... or even better... the HTC Tilt 2 or Pure.. gotta love HTC! worried about apps??? Window Mobile has Marketplace... Samsung has App-Store... HTC has something similar to App-Store... however, none are extensive as Itunes... you can always google the app, like "free southwest airlines app for windows mobile"... google is so cool. You would be surprised! LOL.. there is always getjar.com and tons tons tons of other app websites that sell free and paid apps... Dont worry about ATT email, just program the POP3 email into the phone. You may need server and port info... but you can call DSL tech support to easily get that information Worried about browsers... most windows phones comes with 2... Internet explorer--obviously.. and Opera mini 9 or 10.. you can also install other browsers like BOLT or SKyfire or wahtever... there are tons! school email should work also... the school IT people may need to help you if it doesnt give step by step instructions on their homepage/email home page AND if the school doesnt use outlook or an exchange sever... I go to school also and I get my work email, ATT personal email, school email, yahoo email, gmail in 1 freakin phone! LMAO Personally, I have a Samsung Omina II (i8000) with windows 6.5... I know... its a Verizon phone... But, I got it overseas during a business trip... and everything is unlocked overseas... USA is the only country I know with the exception of APPLE IPHONE and maybe a UK and Canadian carrier that locks its phones to the carrier. Its branded only Samsung.. no other logo is on it. My colleages have freakin blackberries and Blackjack2s and Epix and etc... You'd be surprised how many execs here dont use iphones... LOL geee I wonder why... So far, our phones act the same, since we have windows 6.1 and higher... So, for you, I think you need to get away from the Evil Apple Empire and experience Windows... I never used an Iphone, but with the power of these phones... i dont understand what the hype is over this Iphone $#^!$#. pardon my french! You have so much customization power... it just aint funny... use google, get the specs on the phones above for independant reviewers.. get the down low... and trust me, you'll never go apple again.

I will prefer Blackberry anyway, but Iphone is much more cooler..

Get at&t lg expo. If you saw that commercial when verizon compared there 3g coverage maps, at&t sued verizon because it was the other way around. Anyway the lg expo has slider keyboard and a touch screen. It has wifi to connect to at&t wifi hotspots. It has a mobile projector, the coolest cell phone feature ever! If you heard about the tivit (mobile DTV transmitter) it will work with that.

I've had this issue before too. Granted, I've never had the iPhone. I was debating between that and a blackberry. I ended up going with the BB 9700 - I loved it. Had to return it though (not because it was faulty). But I travel a lot too .. my sister and dad are in Georgia, while I go to school Michigan. The BB 9700 (along with other BB's I'm sure) does allow you to set up your school email on there. I found that super helpful because the number of emails I get from school is ridiculous. The browser is good. Can be a little slow when you don't have good reception, but what can you expect? The BB does have apps..not nearly as many as the iPhone has because it's not intended to be a feature/app phone, but they do have some decent apps for it. You can also use any kind of ringtones you want on the BB, but I recommended you use myxer.com. From what you're saying, I wouldn't suggest any other phone besides the BB because you want to be able to travel and be okay with the phone (the BB does that), you wanna check your school email (BB does that), it pretty much does everything. You also get a lot of stuff when you buy it. You get USB, wall charger, leather holster, earbuds, and the manuals and what not. Good luck :)

If you like the different apps, the iPhone wins. The BlackBerry App World cannot compare. Opera Mini for the BlackBerry is alright, but doesn't compare to Safari for iPhone. The keyboards are different on different BlackBerry devices. I personally have the Curve 8520 and only got that over the Bold 9700 because the keyboard is easier to type on. The iPhone's touch screen keyboard was as easy or easier though. Unless your iPhone is unlocked (and even then, I'm not sure) you aren't able to download anything directly to the device. Apple prohibits this. The email of the BlackBerry is better, though with iPhone's push feature, some email apps may catch up.
