How to unlock a KG220 LG cell phone?

I brought a KG220 LG cell phone in South Africa while I was on vacation to use down there, and the sales clerk said that it would be able to unlock when i get back home, I live in Barbados, West Indies. But now i took it to different shops and they said that because it is a new phone, they don't have the code to unlock it. Could you provide a solution. Thank you
