Does Skype reply back to emails?

Is skype cheaper than a regular phone service?

  • I am getting to be 20 years old, and am trying to ween away from dependency on my parents more, and I move into my first apartment at the beginning of next semester, and there are no utilities included. I am trying to be as efficient as I can, and being that I am a computer technician, I will already have my own home-server running, so I figure why not use skype as the phone service. I will just buy one or two usb phones, and have skype constantly running in the background. My question is... Is this the cheapest option available. I already have $10 skype credit right now, and rarely use it at all. Whenever I call anyone it is typically on my cell phone. Should I even worry about a home line for my phones? I don't ever call anyone international, and really, the majority of my communication is in text messages, facebook, and emails, being a product of my generation, so I figure a phone bill is just that much more unneeded. Anyone with some real life experience care to elaborate?
