Answer:
If you buy an advanced smartphone you're better off with Sprint in terms of the plan costs. Both Verizon and Sprint are very good in coverage and customer service. You are also on the right track by considering the HTC Evo Shift. Also look into the HTC Evo which has better specs. On Verizon, the HTC Thunderbolt will be the phone to get when it comes out in a couple of weeks. It's the best available on that carrier, bar none (iPhone included). The Thunderbolt is as good as the Evo, and then some: http://www.htc.com/us/products/thunderbolt-verizon

Verizon has better service than any other wireless service in the country. The only thing about Verizon you won't like are the plans. You pay seperately for talk, texts and pics, and data package. You're bills will go up with Verizon depending on the plan. Although Sprint has all for $69.99, I have heard complaints from Sprint customers how their service sucks and internet is so slow. Also texting takes a while too. I know I have friends in Sprint.
If you want to pay an arm and a leg for limited data plans, Verizon is your choice. If you want the iphone 4, Verizon will definitely be your best choice. As to Sprint, all there data plans are unlimited and the best plan for the evo shift is $79.99 with unlimited 3G and 4G service . Thats streaming Pandora all day and night with no worries. It includes unlimited calls to ANY cell phone in the US and unlimited txts. If you want to save even more money, ask if there are any discounts with your work, school, or if your a credit union member. As far as coverage, Sprint has great coverage nation wide.

Don't let anybody tell you that one network is better than the other. Every carrier has good coverage in some areas and dead spots in others. Which network is better for you depends entirely on your specific address, where you work, how you commute. (I live in D.C., where everybody says Verizon has the best network, but you cannot get a good Verizon signal in my house. So is Verizon the best network for me? Nope.) Don't hesitate to try Sprint. They have some of the best phones money can buy, and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so if you don't like the coverage, you can return the phone, cancel the service, and switch to Verizon. You could end up saving money on both the phone and the service plan. The EVO and the EVO Shift are both very nice 4G phones (Verizon doesn't have any 4G phones yet). The EVO Shift is brand new and an extremely responsive smartphone, and a fantastic deal. Through Monday, it's on sale at authorized Sprint dealer Wirefly.com for $119.99 plus free Sprint activation. That's a steal. They also have a satisfaction guarantee with free return shipping. They ship you the phone via FedEx and schedule activation with Sprint. If you don't like it, they give you a prepaid return label and you call Sprint to cancel the service. By comparison, the iPhone 4 is old technology, is not as customizable, is never discounted, and doesn't have as many good free apps. It's a nice phone, but don't let anybody tell you it's the only game in town. Good luck!

Hello, my name is Paul and I will help to answer this question. The answer really pertains to how you will use your phone. Where will you be using your service? If just around town you will be fine using Sprint, but if you travel a lot you will want to use Verizon. If you are not concerned with coverage, you may want to use a cheaper service like Sprint. Verizon Wireless can get very expensive for one line (around $100.00 a month). Then if there is a certain phone you want (Ex. iPhone 4) you will have to decide who offers that phone. Sprint works fine if you are just using it around town, very little travel, and high internet demand, and the prices are more reasonable. If you need more coverage and a higher end phone Verizon is the way to go. Also, both companies do perform credit checks, and may require a deposit. Personally, I have used Sprint and did not like the service due to spotty coverage, slow internet connection, billing issues, and customer support. I switched to At&t almost a year ago and have been very happy since. T-Mobile is a low end service provider who has problems with coverage and services. I strongly suggest switching to Verizon or At&t if you can make the adjustment. Hope this helps...

Hi.I had two service providers before Sprint and Verizon.I am a current Verizon customer right now. Used to be a Sprint customer for 2 years. When I was a Sprint customer I got really bad service in my area. I got constantly dropped calls in such. For me at least, Sprint was the worst provider ever. Verizon I have never had a problem with.Have been on the service for a good solid 9 years or more now. When it comes down to it coming from my opinion,Verizon is the best company.
