Answer:
When I was planning to replace my old phone, I was also having a hard time choosing the right phone for myself. One of my option is this Blackberry 8520, it was handy but it's trackball not track pad; I find it difficult to manage since it pops up unlike the blackberry latest phone. You might want also to consider the camera-it's 2 megapixel, no flash so you won't enjoy it. This phone is like first time user, that's just my opinion. I can post the link here for you to compare and get other ideas. Just weight your options because there are a lo of phones available now.

Get the 3G version. I had a few replacement over two years as software crashes a few times. I use a mini pro ericsson but I prefer the BB.

If you want bbm which is why most teenagers have blackberrys these days, than buying a blackberry, like the 8520 is worth it and your only choice, as other phone brands obviously don't have bbm. But otherwise, don't bother with the 8520. For that sort of money there is another smart phone, the Nokia E5-00, which has a 5 megapixel camera with flash, unlike the dull & outdated 2 megapixel camera of the 8520, the E5-00 has far better battery life rather than the 8250, and also a better sound quality. It's also more fun to customize. The E5-00 also has a way better built quality with metal touches like the solid aluminium back cover, the chrome frame work, and the magnesium directional keys. The E5-00 will last you longer too as it is more reliable. The only thing it hasn't got is a optical trackpad of course like the blackberrys, but then again trackpads aren't reliable either as they can be slippery, look constantly greasy, and can even stop working after a while which is why i wouldn't call them reliable, especially on a cheap blackberry phone. The E5-00 is generally more reliable too than the 8520. Here's a link for the E5-00 for you to have a look at. Note that it's only available in white: http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/pay_and_go/init/Nokia/E5_White This phone will offer you more quality features and is generally the best qwerty all-rounder for up to £120. Realistically, the only reason left for you to buy a blackberry would be to have bbm or just your taste in looks or colour i suppose.
