Are blackberry's a good brand of phone?

If you buy a brand new cell phone (not a prepaid) does it come with a sim card in the box?

  • I have to be more specific here: I want to have a contract compatible phone, and purchase the phone only, without the contract, and without a current established service set up. It would probably be bought from a reseller either off of craigslist or from ebay. If I buy a cell phone (once again: not a prepaid type of phone) brand new, sealed, in the box, will it have a sim card in the box to be used with a contract? My intention is to call or go online and activate the phone myself and have a contract, not a prepaid phone, but I need to make sure it has a sim card in the box that has not been activated yet.

    If your phone is brand new, straight from the manufacturer, it will have a new sim card included in the box. Be wary about buying anything over the internet, though.

It depends whether you buy a GSM phone, which uses a sim card, or a CDMA phone, which doesn't. Sprint and Verizon use CDMA. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. For other companies, find out before you buy.

it all depends on who or where you get it from if you go into a cell phone store the phones in the stores will not have a sim card in the box but if you buy off of the carriers web store then there will be a sim in the box...and if you want a sim you can buy them for almost for a dollar off of ebay or you can ask the people in the store if they will give you another. and you have to be careful buying from ebay or craigslist you never know what you got until you bought it...

NO, they do not come shipped with SIM cards. The SIM card is proprietary to the carrier. Usually, the card is branded with the carriers logo. There is data about the carrier on the SIM card as well as the Subscriber Information. You could suggest locate a SIM and rewrite it yourself using a SIM reader.

Don't listen to anyone that say you don't get sim card with phone. You don't say where your at in States you get a sim card with a phone but the phone will be locked to the carrier AT&T or T-Mobile.

No, SIM cards are provided only by the cellphone service provider companies like AT&T, Verizon, etc. If it will have a SIM card in the box, it will still be specific to a cellphone service provider. No such thing as a blank SIM card.

it probably wont... but you do realize that you can just go to the provider's store or go online and buy JUST the sim card, right? or you can get a free phone with it, just to keep as a backup incase the phone you buy on craigslist or ebay breaks...
