How can I downgrade my iOS from 4.2 to 4.01?

How to downgrade iphone 4 to ios 5.0.1?

  • i made a mistake and i upgraded to ios 5.1 when the ipad 3 came out. now i cant jailbreak. is there a way to downgrade back to ios 5.0.1. i didnt back up my phone to itunes sadly. but my brother has the iphone 4 with ios 5.0.1. is there a way i can back up his phone's ios and to be used as my own? if not, how do i downgrade my phone? Thanks

    There is no way to downgrade to any firmware without having your SHSH blobs for that particular firmware (you can save these through TinyUmbrella and Cydia saves them for you automatically). If you have not run TU or have been jailbroken previously, you will not be able to downgrade since you have no opportunity to get your SHSH blobs.
