Why do smartphones have so little memory?

What are great devices (smartphones, PDA's, etc) that have wifi, EDGE and/or 3G capability with much memory?

  • What I've been looking for is simmilar to an iPod Touch (32 GB memory, wifi capability), but with EDGE and/or 3G capability that the Touch lacks. I know the most obvious solution is the iPhone, but I'm searching for a GSM without a contract and has a large internal memory capacity with WiFi but also other internet capability that'll allow me check my email, send messages, access the web, etc that also allows me to utilize local WiFi access whenever I can. Does anyone know of anything in this criteria?

    Check out HTC line of products, like the Tytn. I think you can increase the memory with a micro SD card, but it has WiFi that works fine for me. I think the newest Blackberry will also have WiFi, but is not available yet.
