Why windows phone doesnt did well despite being better than iphone?

• well my dad has an iphone 4.my friend recently bought a lumia 800.i found it better than iphone 4 especially u.i,internet speed,integration etc.only advantage of ios is large app store rest of ios is still stuck in 2007. So i was wondering why windows mango didnt done well especially in home country u.s So do you thnk lumia series can do well in u.s ,china and europe.

  Why does iPhone do so well? The answer is obvious. It's an iPhone... by Apple! If it's an Apple product, it's the best product. This is what the regular consumer would normally say and think. That is why it's doing so well compared to Windows Phone. Microsoft mainly have a bad reputation for their products which is why it's not very popular. When people hear the word, Windows or Windows Mobile, users would normally think of the bad parts that it has rather than it's good part because a lot of user had have some bad experience with older products. Although, the WP market-share is growing quite fast. Another reason is that there isn't enough WP phones available. Especially in the US! If you look in the US only a small number of carriers have WP phones and those WP phones aren't available on all carriers either. Think of the Samsung Focus S that phone is only available in 1 country and it's only available on 1 carrier (AT&T). How can it sell well if it's only available in one place? Plus, not enough marketing is done to promote their products. Only now is it gaining some traction because there is some heavy marketing involved by Nokia who is at least trying to get the Lumia series out to as many countries and carriers as possible. Right now in Australia, we see a sh*t load of ads for the Lumia 800 just about everywhere ranging from TVs, newspapers, flyers, shopping centres, public transport, billboards and etc. If they can play their cards right, it will do well. I believe it could gain traction in some countries. The Lumia series (particularly the Lumia 800) suprsingly doing quite well in Europe where it has become one of the hottest phones there is. In the US, there just needs to be more WP phones available on the Market to do well and WP Apollo is needed which can boost up shares even more because of the features expected on the upcoming phones. In China (as well as other third-world countries), all Nokia needs to do is release some more budget WP handsets like the Lumia 610 and 710 to gain traction and do some heavy marketing too to win people over!
