How much will i get for selling the following?

How are folks selling new 3G iPhones?

• Craig's List and eBay are chock-full of new 3G iPhones (locked and unlocked) for sale at all sorts of prices, sometimes brand new and untouched. I just want to know how people are doing this? I tried to do this for a friend of mine who lives in Mexico recently and there was no way to avoid either having to return the iPhone to the Apple store where it was purchased or having to pay the early termination fee of $170+. I tried the following: 1. Call to Apple or AT&T within 3 days and basically "undo". Result: Would have had to return the phone to Apple Store. Then Apple would contact AT&T with some 'code' and that would allow me to get out of the contract without paying the early term fee. 2. Call to Apple or AT&T within 30 days and "undo". Result: Same as above. 3. Call to AT&T after 30 days and "undo". Result: Keep iPhone. Pay early term fee. My only option was #3 b/c my friend really wanted the iPhone. So how are all these phones for sale? What are people doing? How are they doing it? How are they getting the phones and selling them without paying all sorts of fees? Please enlighten me.
