Which cell phone is better?

Which is the better way to go when buying a cell phone?

• 1) buy the phone through the carrier 2) buy any phone on ebay (particularly a better phone than what sold at store) and then take it to the store and have them put my number on it? would option number 2 cost a lot/ more? i am intested in buying a new cell phone but US cellular doesnt have anything that catches my eye...

  You are better of buying the phone too along with the plan and then sell that phone outside, while using your eye catching phone for you. You can even trade-in for cash the phone at sites like dealbydollar for good price.
