Palm pre battery life?
-
i have been looking into buying a palm pre, i will be getting one when i come back from europe in a month. there have been many, big, complaints about the very short battery life of the pre, would it be possible to fix this problem by simply buying a better battery?

Answer:
You will not need a better battery if you follow some easy tips: - Use PUSH email (IMAP) instead of POP and checking for messages every 15 minutes. If your email does not support IMAP, then forward the messages to gmail and use that. If you want to replay using the forwarded email address, you can set that in Gmail (so people don't receive your gmail address in replies). Remember, you can set up as many gmail accounts as you want. - change the backlight timing - fully charge it when it gets low I've had it for a few days now, and I use it constantly, and I have not had any problems running it all day on one charge.

first of all don't listen to people who have "heard" bad things. the phone is great! i've owned an iphone and loved it, this is simply the next generation of OS. battery life is not great, but i have not had huge issues. a better battery is not the answer though, improvements to battery life will likely come through software updates (which will improve how much power the phone uses to perform various tasks) that will be made available through palm. purchasing a second battery would provide you with a safety net, but i don't think this is necessary.

my battery life was dismal at first also. I have never posted on a forum but i feel i have to tell my experience with my palm pre. i got about three hours of battery life the first day. i went and exchanged the battery and charged, used and got about 5 hours. turned off backgroung apps and recharged and go tabout 8 hours. had three email accounts checking in hte background and set preferences to check manually but still got notifications of new emails. decided to delete all the email accounts and battery life went up a lot. yesterday charged fully by 7am and had gps, wireless, location services etc. all off and backlight set to low--used phone my usual amount with several phone calls and lots of texting andby 8pm still had 80% battery life. figured the battery was getting conditioned and wanted to run it totally down and recharge so at 9pm turned everything back on including wireless, gps, etc. and this morning expected it not to turn on, but it still had 30% battery. i even went on the web and paid my sprint bill and checked facebook and other web sites and now have 28%. a few days ago i almost took it back to sprint, now i am glad i didn't.

well at first when i got mine the battery life was horrible i could only get 3 hours on a charge and that was with doing nothing at all. i am not able to get a full day on a charge while using it heavy. many of the battery problems were bugs such as AOL messenger and having a hotmail account set up on the phone because even if you had it set to manually check for emails it would constantly check. another problem with the batteries though is that some of them are a little to small and when you slide the phone it slides them out of place and causes the phone to shutdown.

dunno bout the battery life but i've heard nothing but bad things about it...its basically a piece of crap...cheap plastic, keyboard sux...etc etc etc...i would suggest you get another phone.

it's better not to buy other batteries. stick with the original ones. there were some cases of exploding and... The palm Pre talk time is 5 hours. That's very GOOD from a smartphone with very big screen and OS

Dunno... probably not? Do they even have better batteries? I'd wait and watch, or buy another phone.
