How do I track my cell phone if it was stolen?

Can a cell phone company track a stolen cell phone?

• A friend's phone was recently stolen, and I wanted to know if the cell phone company can track the location, and if so, the exact location. Or, are the Police the only people that can track the cell phone. Your answers, with as much elaboration as possible would be greatly appreciated.

  dont beleive everything you see on tv wireless carriers's 611, tech support, warranty, billing, rm, etc cannot locate a stolen cell phone with a click on a button... that is the responcibility of the legal department, who dont speak with customers... they speak with police/lawyers/court systems only becuase some customer have a complete obsession over thier phones and tend to be very rude to the people being so absolutley nice dinding their phone at the legal dept.. hence, they will never talk to customers.. past customers ruined it for current customers.. lol that is why all wireless carriers tell their customer to report your phone stolen with local authorities... they know who to contact if and when its warranted (like a murder or child abduction or life infrindgement).. but if you forgot it at Applebees and complain to us or the police that you lost it.. then 10 to 1... the police will not contact legal dept... sorry
