Which HTC phone is best and is it better then iphone?

i can't afford iphone but i noticed good deals with the HTC phones and was told some are better then iphone,have better cam etc is this true? also the ones i was looking at was HTC Desire ir HTC HD7.i like desire and it's slightly cheaper but HD7 says you can play xbox games etc but not sure if you can on desire.anyone know much about them and which is better?

Not long iphone contract finished decided to try a htc wildfire on payg can not get on with it wish the IPhone5 was out already might just go for a 4 instead.
