Videos ideas on cell phone?

One of 2 tips from cell phone charger broke off in phone - any ideas on removal?

  • This is my husband's cell phone, a Motorola/Nextel i530 and the broken off tip (or maybe it's called a prong?) is from the home charger. This plug in the wall type charger does, in fact, still charge the phone if you carefully align the plug with the broken tip but he can't close the hinged rubber door/cover (that is probably meant to keep dust out of the receptacle) nor can he use the car charger or the desktop charger. So we charge an extra phone's battery and then he plays musical batteries! This may very well be a generic question deserving a generic answer - in fact, I suggested just yanking the thing out of there with a pair of tweezers but we're too chicken to actually try it.

  • Answer:

Best of luck with this. You can certainly try what the others have suggested. If this does not work and the phn is defective then you should call your carrier, meaning nextel to see where you stand with insurance or warranty.

Same thing happened to me and I used a thin set of tweezers to get it out. My phone works just fine and it got the unwanted broken piece out. Go for it!

Make sure he gets it to a repair center--don't let him attempt to remove it himself. That will void the warranty. Usually that repair will cost anywhere between $15 and $35, but if you have the equipment repair plan it's free. Also, bring the charger with you--if it's under warranty, they'll replace it. (I had a similar problem with my phone, learned the hard way. :)

First of all i suggest you just git rid of your craptel phone and go for a more dependable phone company. If you just have to keep the phone i think u shoul just go to your nearest nextel store location and the can possibly repair it for you free if you have insurance or for a small fee if you dont.

Go for it! Nothing bad will happen if you yank it out with some tweezers.
